My name is Iman.

Iman is a very meaningful word, to Muslims.

It's so divine that Iman became words of wisdom and motivation and so much others..

Iman asasunnajah (Iman asas kejayaan)

Kesabaran itu separuh daripada Iman

Kebersihan itu separuh daripada Iman

so many others..

there is/are also songs about Iman.. Raihan's Iman mutiara is the most known and famous nasyeed for Malaysians..

All my life, up to this day, whenever I introduce myself.. people would just start to sing the nasyeed. Everybody seems to know that nasyeed. EVERYBODY! haha.

Iman means faith. Iman means believe. In Islam, Iman is the core element for muslims. It is sooo important. I don't know how to explain it, but for muslims, they know.

Iman is such a beautiful name. but it is also a scary name, to me.

When I was at school, both primary and secondary school.. having Pendidikan Islam class was dreadful. When the teacher (ustazah or ustaz) reads the textbook, and when there's Iman in the text, I just wanted to dissappear. As the teacher vocalised the word Iman out loud, everybody, my classmates, and the teacher as well, would turn their heads to me.. everybody! I can't tell you how embarrassed I was. If I could vapourise into thin air, I would. Unfortunately, in Pendidikan Islam textbooks, the word Iman, is everywhere! In the end, I learned not to feel anything anymore when the word Iman appears. but people can't seem to do the same.. unfortunately. 

When I told people that my name is Iman... I can't help myself from thinking that people expect me to behave how my name sounded. The name is sooo meaningful that sometimes I feel burdened to have to carry the name.. In a good way, my name becomes my guidance.. 

I don't skip classes because my name is Iman. I don't cheat in exams because my name is Iman. 

If this is the reason why my parents decided to name me Iman 21 years ago.. then they did it right. 

I'll try to be a better Iman with stronger Iman.. 

ps: My brother's name is Ihsan. It means compassion... it's also one of the main core in muslim's life principles :)
