MeNtAL-bLocK
I turned on my laptop, with the intention to write something for my blog. I had a few things in my mind that I was planning to share with. I started my entry with the date of that day, then I froze. In my mind, I was replaying my last few days-trip to PANTAI MERDEKA-delicious COCONUT SHAKE in Penang-me driving my dad’s MERCEDES for the first and last time...
I could not figure out the right words to describe those things that I wanted to share. Though I did not give up. I started with the story behind the trip to pantai merdeka, it had been a while since the last time I went there... then, once again, I froze. Nothing came out of my mind though I could still remember the day vividly.
So I restart my writing.
‘The other day, I went to Penang, my mum had an appointment to attend so we, my brother and my friend anis included, tagged along.’
After some backspacing and pausing, I finally managed to put a full stop to the first sentence. Then, I had nothing, I had nothing to continue the sentence. Zero.
Once again, for the second time, I froze. My fingers were still on the keyboard, waiting for my brain to command them to type. The waiting went on for a few blank minutes until I finally decide to change the title. Maybe the Mercedes story would flow out of my head, I thought to myself hopefully.
And so, I restarted again.
‘Wednesday. Night market. It was 6.30 pm, and we got ourselves into some decent clothes to get some dinner at the night market. Night market. Each time I say the words, my head would automatically flash the view of the food and the stalls there. I was no longer overwhelmed with the various delicacies...twice a week the night market would stand there, and twice a week I would go with my brother to get dinner. Twice a week for over two months now... so no. I was no longer overwhelmed with the various delicacies. However, that day was a little bit different for two reasons. One, the whole family were going instead of just me and my brother. Two, my dad asked me to drive his car. His red Mercedes Benz! Fyi, my driving licence is not even a month old yet... ‘
For the third time, my head went blank. Again. Hmmph.
Then I remembered something that I read...regarding my current favourite author, Stephenie Meyer. Well, her fans (me, included) are still now anxiously waiting for her another twilight novel to finish, Midnight Sun. She said that she has not been able to finish her writing because she is having some kind of mental block... I was so disappointed reading her comment. .. but now, I guess I could understand, though I know the mental block that I was experiencing could never be compared to hers...
Until next post (when I could write again...)...
xoxo
