Eclipse; Fire and Ice !

What do i think about the book? I’ve always read, no actually, i learnt in my literature class during foundation programme that a good reader will always analyse what he or she have read. So, i’m trying to be one good reader by answering the question...

Since i’ve read eclipse twice in the past two weeks...i must have something to say about it right? Maybe.

Lets see... what do i have in mind right now~ (eclipse is in my hand)

Owh, here’s something that is interesting to share; its a poem by Robert frost who i think is the same guy that compose the road not taken? Well, some of you might wonder how in the world this frost guy had anything to do with eclipse? Urmm, it turns out that stephenie meyer put his poem in the beginning of the novel. And the title of the poem ended up became one of the chapters in the book.

It’s called FIRE AND ICE. Enjoy!

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what i’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice*.

*suffice means; enough to achieve a purpose ~ in this poem it means ice is also enough to end the world.

In my opinion, with a little knowledge that i have, i think i know the relevance of this poem to the story in eclipse. FIRE AND ICE is actually a symbolic of EDWARD AND JACOB obviously... i thought i saw miss azzy (literature lecturer) in my head just now~

Anyway, back to my topic...
Eclipse is about Bella finding the truth of whom she really loves, was it really Edward that she loves? Or was it Jacob? Both vampire and werewolf were fighting for Bella. These two characters are completely different from one another, in every way, except that they love Bella. In the Frost’s poem, fire and ice are completely different in nature but both have similarity, the fact that both element are capable of destroying the world.
Do you see the connection now? No? Okay...

Its like BELLA is the World, EDWARD is the Fire and JACOB is the Ice.
Lets just say that this Frost guy is a fan of eclipse...haha. Anyway, in the poem, he said that he favors fire that destroy the world...but he also say that if there’s second chance, ice could also do the same! Now let me put it in eclipse version ~*i made this up~

EDWARD AND JACOB*some say Bella will end with Edward,
some say with Jacob.
From what i’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour Edward.
But if she had to be loved twice,
I think i know enough of hate
To say that for devotion Jacob
Is also great
And would suffice.

Haha~ what do you think of that???
Do you see what i’m trying to say? Do you see how can the poem be related to the story? I don’t know how to explain it more~

But i can explain why i chose fire to symbolises Edward and ice to symbolises Jacob instead of the obvious opposite...
It is a fact (i don’t think fact is the right choice of word since that this fact is a made-up fact but whatever...), it is a fact that Edward is a vampire and physically his body is cold like ice, whereas Jacob the werewolf has the body with high temperature and hot like fire but in literature the obvious doesn’t necessarily right and fits.

~ right ANIP? AINA? TJ? ~

What important is that Edward and Jacob are naturally opposite to one another, and so do fire and ice ~ forever ~

Oh men, if miss Azzy sees this... she’s gonna laugh and i’ll be the topic of the day for her to talk with miss Sally and miss Melissa!
