Jom pi dapuq : Serawa (a.k.a pengat) Labu
The other day, we went to my dad's friend's place. It's a rumah kampung, with some (around 20) little bunnies! Yup! Sooooo cute! I fell in love as I saw them! Rasa macam nk bunny-nap ja! Anyway, as we were heading out, the wife gave us a pumpkin, it was grown in the backyard. It was small, and cute looking. So, as we arrived home, my mum told me to figure something out, anything, any dish, desserts that i can do with the little pumpkin.
After some goggle-ing. I found, punpkin pie, pumpkin soup, pumpkin cake, bingka labu, macam2lah... tapi tak teringin satu pun. In the end, i decided to make Serawa labu! Well, orang key ell sebut 'pengat' labu, kami orang kedah kata 'serawa' labu.. hehe.
Terkejut jugak tengok resipi. SENANG gilaaa. Kiki. So, een, haz.. trylah buat! Kalau x suka labu, ganti dgn pisang :)
Ingredient:
Labu (or pisang), ikut suka nk banyak mana.
Air, depends on the amount of labu.
Gula Gerek (or aka gula Melaka), yg bulat tu.
Gula biasa (optional)
Garam (to taste)
Susu segar (yang kita makan dgn cereal tu pagi2), atau nak lg sedap, santan, ikut citarasa.
Apa lagi? Tu ja kot.
To the stove!
1. Peel off the labu, buang biji2, clean them, potong ikut saiz yg u prefer.
2. Take a pot, bubuh air, place on the stove, api medium high. Bubuh labu2 yg dah potong tu. Rebus labu until soften as you like lah. I like the labu lembut, macam bila guna sudu tu need not much effort to kerat.. hihi.
3. Then, break gula gerek into small pieces supaya cepat and senang hancur. Bubuh dalam rebusan labu tu. Kacau sampai rata. I used 3/4 of that one gula gerek slice.
4. Next, bubuh susu or santan. I used susu sbb santan habis. Tuang sikit2, keep stirring, i used 3/4 of a cup. Kalau rasa macam susu dah sebati tu, bubuh la garam sikit. Garam is very important! I dont know why, tapi bila buh ja garam, terus magically sedap! Hehe.
5. Finally, reminder: keep stirring tau, ambik sudu rasalah kuah serawa tu. Kalau rasa x cukup manis, tambah gula gerek or gula putih biasa tu, kalau rasa x cukup lemak tambah susu or santan sikit2, kalau rasa macam x cukup something, tapi x tahu apa, haaa cuba buh garam sikit, well, that's what i did! And it worked!
6. My mum said, kalau nak bg pekat, make sure the santan is pekat. Haa. Tu jalah. Kalau nak lg meriah, buh sagu (i didnt sbb my dad x suka, he said it reminded him of telur katak!). Hehh.
Boleh makan panas2, or at room temperature, or sejuk2! Have it your way, kata Burger King.
