Living Proof

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”

We stereotype people most of the time. Well, I do that. I know stereotyping is bad, showing how narrow-minded a person is.. I learned critical thinking so, I KNOW STEREOTYPE IS BAD. But, I couldn't help it.

A good friend of mine is on her way home to Perak now, her train departs in an hour so I pray she'll make it.. Before she hopped into the taxi, we had our breakfast at nasi kandar.. We had a great chat, I talked a lot.. so did she.. hehe.

One of the many 'topics' that we talked about was about a friend of ours. Well, I can't recall how did it start but from one friend to another and another and another finally we came to talk about Ms.S. I'm not pleased with her being too close to Mr.F. Not that I'm jealous or things like that! It's just that she, quite often, went to his place.. she claimed she was just playing games and watching movies with him, I believe her. I do. I don't really mind that.. It's just the fact that she, being a young lady, a muslim and malay girl, a polite and beautiful girl... she was alone in the guys' house.. THAT worries me.

Unfortunately, this is not the first or second time I've had friends doing this. Know a few. And they have this one similarity... their backgrounds, specifically they are those from this BIG MAJOR city.. so I tend to make statement like, 'I guess people from XX city are like that', not a good thing though..

But then.. there's Hazreen. She's another good friend of mine. She's a friend I'll keep. She's a friend that always keeps me on track.. I tend to be out of control at times.. and with her beside me, I'm in control.. I don't think she knows this.. but she's a good influence for me.. I have mentioned this in my previous post (long time ago though).. and she's one of those people from the-city-that-should-not-be-mentioned...

Anyway, Hazreen is, I would say, a saviour to those people in XX city. She's the living proof that denies all my stereotypes towards people from  the-city-that-should-not-be-mentioned . They owe her. She proves me wrong. She proves me that my judgements can be wrong too.. She might just representing 0.01% of the people in the city, but that tiny bit is enough to stop me from stereotyping them.
